GENERAL

A sanctuary of Demeter Thesmophoros has been located on the upper terrace of the hill.


 

MONUMENTS

Non-identified. A fragment of a triglyph is the only find from the site.


 

FINDS

Clay vessels.


 

CHRONOLOGY

The collected sherds date to the Geometric and Archaic period.


 

IDENTIFICATION

The cult of Demeter on the island is attested by many literary and epigraphic sources, as well as by numismatic evidence mainly of the 5th and 4th c. The assumption of the location of the sanctuary of Demeter on the hill of Agia Anna is based on the aforementioned scarce archaeological evidence.
