GENERAL
Iulis is situated on a hill about 25 stadia from the sea, in the northern part of the island, on the same site as the modern Zea. The cult of Athena at Iulis is known by epigraphic and iconographic evidence. The exact site of the sanctuary of the goddess is not known.

There is no record for any kind of architectural remains.
MOVABLE FINDS: VOTIVE OFFERINGS & CULT EQUIPMENT
A votive inscription to Athena has been found on a base of a statue. A relief in parian marble possibly depicts the goddess enthroned, wearing an ionic chiton and an attic helmet and holdings a spear.
CHRONOLOGY
The inscription on the base of the statue date in the 525-500 BC. The relief date to the 5th c. BC.
IDENTIFICATION
Based on the epigraphic and iconographic evidence the goddess worshipped in Iulis was Athena.
